The book reverses the perception of who is the hero and who is the villain from St George and the Dragon : George is the anti-hero and the dragon, wizard and wolf are the good guys. The dragon is the guardian of the crystals that protect the balance of Earth’s ecosystems, but George steals them and this creates problems for the world as it starts to die. Who is brave enough to stand up to George and his family? This books can be used for 6 years old right up to 11 year olds. The books are excellent and the resource well-worth using. The books helps children learn through stories by: a) Tackling topical environmental issues b) Offering quality discussions through strong themes c) Introducing aspirational language d) Demonstrating grammar and sentence structure in line with National Curriculum expectations. This is a beautifully touching story about a young boy who wants to take his grandma to the beach where she grew up one last time to see her turtles before she goes blind, but when they get there the beach is full of rubbish. He sees how upset his grandma is so wants to do something about it. There are some twists and turns and surprises for the reader. This books can be used for 6 years old right up to 11 year olds. Learning Objectives are: 1. To discuss and work co-operatively in groups to decide on the most important rights for a child. 2. To put a strong case to the UN for it to include your Article in the UN Convention for the Rights of the Child. This is an easy to follow step-by-step lesson which results in some well-formed argument. There is a plan to show progression, which is hyperlinked to the resources, a PowerPoint that models each stage and the resources for the pupils to use. Activities include: Diamond nine Group work Presentational skills Discussion Structured writing Cause and effect Panel of experts Use of debate phrases Sometimes after uploading and downloading the hyperlinks don't work. If they don't, the resources are all contained within the file for you to use. The hyperlinks were there to make things easier but are not the only way to access the resource.
